Arundel Bespoke is an award-winning bespoke kitchen and interiors company founded by myself, Shane Hilton. After many years working for a national company, designing handmade kitchens for discerning clients, I wanted to bring creative design and quality cabinetry to the bespoke kitchen and interiors market.
I won the kbbreview Kitchen Designer of the Year 2019 - Projects costing over £50,000 - in April 2019 . A great achievement for what is essentially the Oscars of the UK kitchen industry.
Many of my projects have been featured in interior magazines such as Kitchens, Bedrooms and Bathrooms magazine, Homes & Gardens, Beautiful Kitchens, Country Homes and Interiors, Essential Kitchens, Bathrooms and Bedrooms, and Period Ideas, and I have also been asked to contribute to magazine editorial covering lighting, designing kitchens for period homes and future design trends.
I have been working for over 14 years designing bespoke kitchens for private clients and their architects and interior designers.
Initially, I encourage my clients to visit me as it is really the best way for them to understand what I am able to achieve for them. To see the quality of my products is invaluable. It is a great opportunity to discuss the brief, initial ideas, materials and styles.
Arundel Bespoke is a specialist design business with a strong focus on kitchen design. My clients often say it is my creative design skills, passion and enthusiasm that set me apart from standard kitchen design companies with little or no creative front end.
The creative design process is limited only by budget and imagination. This gives me a tremendous amount of creative freedom and means I can design completely unique rooms for my clients using the most exciting materials.
I have an understanding and sympathy for period houses and love for the detail that makes them so special.
Each project starts with the desire to resolve how the space is organised by furniture, and my creative freedom allows me to research and explore aesthetics that will answer the brief and perfectly compliment the architecture into which the furniture is to be installed.
All designs begin by thoroughly understanding how a space works.
Once I understand a space, I can start working out how the kitchen or fitted furniture will relate to it. A key to this is having a thorough understanding of appliances and their limitations.
Most of my work, carried out primarily in East Sussex, West Sussex and London, is for clients who are building extensions or new build properties. With this is mind, I prepare full drawings of the project and can deal directly with the architect, main contractor and trades to make your life and the installation less stressful.
Due to the bespoke nature of my work, I can produce contemporary or classic kitchens, but whichever you choose, the handmade cabinetry is created by craftsmen using traditional carpentry and materials that will stand the test of time. And being bespoke, it fits your space perfectly.
The cabinets are delivered as fully constructed pieces of furniture. My in-frame tulipwood (hardwood) cabinets and doors are constructed using 'mortice and tenon' joints, which is a strong, traditional method of construction. The interior is beautifully finished in oak veneer, The oak drawer box is traditionally dovetailed at the back and the front, giving you a solid drawer on quality, soft-close runners and the butt hinges are fixed 'hardwood to hardwood', preventing the doors from dropping over time. Once the cabinetry has been installed, it is painted in the the colour of your choosing. I only use oil-based eggshell paint, which is easy to clean and hard wearing, rather than a factory sprayed finish. Hand painted cabinetry can easily be re-painted any colour if you decide to change the colour of your kitchen or home.
